    The Network Services Engineer is responsible for the operation of the firm’s network infrastructure and associated services covering all aspects of hardware, software and management, including Router/Switch, Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, Internet Connectivity, Wireless, WAN Optimizers, IIS, Load balancers, Firewalls, External DNS, Certificates and remote VPN access.


    Physical Requirements:

    Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard Firm telephony, computer, keyboard and mouse. Some physical lifting maybe required.




    • Implementation, configuration and maintenance  of a robust, reliable secure network service,  in line with  industry standards and best practices.
    • Ensuring preventative maintenance is regularly scheduled and communicated to the business making sure that any impact is kept to a minimum.
    • Implementation and management of the Firms network disaster recovery and business continuity configurations, making sure that there is no single point of failure, by providing resilient and dynamic failover solutions where possible.
    • Ensuring the network performance monitoring tools, making sure they are consistent with Firm standards and methodologies.
    • Defining and managing ongoing network operational requirements, analysis, selection, design, development, implementation, network operations testing.
    • Management of escalated network related tickets in accordance with local, regional and global Customer Services standards and processes.
    • Complying with approved policies and processes.
    • Responsible for maintaining inventories and complying with licensing agreements.
    • Leading relevant Network related technical initiatives on projects.
    • Ensuring all network diagrams and documentation are up to date and of a high quality.
    • Ensuring all configurations of network equipment are backed up.
    • Configuration and management of all web servers within the firm, specifically IIS and .net components.
    • Configuration and management of all internal and external load balancers within the firm.
    • Creation and submission of detailed firewall policy change requests required by the business to our Firewall Managed service provider.
    • Configuration and management of all WAN optimization appliances within the firm.
    • Software licensing compliance related to network applications, including intellectual property such as SSL certificates and domain names.
    • Establishing and monitoring for all Web Systems servers, sites and network appliances in conjunction with Firm monitoring initiatives and resources.Providing on-call support and other duties as required.

    Business Relationship Management:

    • Work with IT management and staff to integrate and continually evolve operations program/project management methods and practices.
    • Under general direction, plan and evaluate complex existing network systems and make recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels.
    • Provide high level of support by being responsive, communicating proactively and managing expectations.

    On-Call requirements:


    This role participates in the network operations roster.



    ·         Extensive experience of working within an IT Operational environment.

    ·         Extensive knowledge of configuring, implementing and troubleshooting routing and switching architecture

    ·         Knowledge of configuring, implementing and troubleshooting VPN's and Firewalls

    ·         Knowledge of configuring, implementing and troubleshooting wireless technologies

    ·         Knowledge of network management tools and processes.

    ·         Experience of WAN acceleration technologies.

    ·         Experience of network security tools and processes.


    ·         Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent work experience is desirable.

    ·         Industry recognised networking qualifications are desirable.

    ·         Knowledge of Cisco ACI is desirable

    ·         Knowledge of Cisco ISE is desirable.

    ·         Knowledge of Ansible, Python and scripting is desirable,

    ·         Knowledge of load balancers

    ·         Knowledge of webservices

    •    Knowledge of SDN technologies
